Major League Baseball Pitch, Hit & Run 2017
It's time to play like a big leaguer – for free! Ruston Parks and Recreation Department is again proud to host the MLB Pitch, Hit and Run competition on Saturday, May 13 at 9:30 a.m. RPAR joins over 4,000 competitions planned to take place across North America this year.
PHR provides the chance to advance through four levels of competition: Locals, Sectionals, Team Championships at all 30 Major League ballparks and the National Finals at the MLB All-Star Game in Minneapolis, MN. The National Finals, featuring the top competitors in each age division by gender, will take place at Target Field in Minneapolis.
While the competition is co-ed, boys and girls will compete separately in four different age groups: 7-8, 9-10, 11-12, and 13-14. Age is determined as of July 17, 2017.
The individual pitching, hitting and running champions, along with the all-around champion in each age and gender group at this local competition will be awarded and advance to the Sectional level of competition. The location of the Sectionals will be announced during the event. In past years, it’s been in Pineville, Natchitoches and Shreveport.
The local competition is free and will be held on Field #2 at the J. C. Love Softball Complex at 400 Ball Park Road.
All participants’ parent or guardians must complete a registration/waiver form prior to the start of the competition. No metal spikes are allowed. Participants must wear sneakers or rubber cleats.
If there is rain or inclement weather, please call the game/event hotline at 318-255.5414 or refer to our Facebook or Twitter page at RustonRPAR for updates.
“Being active and outdoors is so important to our youth and community, and the Pitch, Hit & Run platform offers a fun opportunity to show off your softball/baseball skills," said Ashlynn J. Shell, Recreation Supervisor.
Players must pre-register by calling the Ruston Parks and Recreation office at 318-255-5800.
