SUMMARY:Art Exhibit - 2015 LA Peach Fest Poster Design Submissions
DESCRIPTION:There is only one winner\, but many great entries for the 65th Louisiana Peach Festival poster design contest. We think they are too good for no one to see them! Bank of Ruston has offered to host a month long show of the approximately 18 submitted posters. Please plan to stop in and see the work of many local artists.\n\n\n\nThis year's winning design was created by Almira Bradford with colored pencils and a piece of plywood. Posters are printed and available for purchase at the Ruston-Lincoln Chamber of Commerce\, 2111 North Trenton Street in Ruston. \n\n\n\n65th Annual Louisiana Peach Festival theme is "American Peach."\n\n \n\n2015 poster now available!\n\n$25 Signed\n\n$10 Unsigned\n\n(Shipping/Handling available for an additional $5)\n\n\n\nPoster Artist Bio\n\nThe 2015 poster was designed by Almira Bradford\, a second year student at LA Tech majoring in graphic design. Almira was adopted and moved to Monroe from Kazakhstan in 2007. \n\n\n\n"When I heard about the Peach Festival contest and that the theme was American Peach\, I saw an opportunity to express what it truly means to me to live in Ruston\, Louisiana\, USA. The reason I created my art on wood in colored pencil and not digitally is because I wanted to give the artwork a handcrafted aesthetic\, something that feels homemade and natural. I automatically had the idea of a sunrise over a peach orchard to symbolize new beginnings and the start of a brand new day. I wanted the viewer to relate to the picture and to imagine themselves standing there breathing in the fresh morning air\, looking over rolling hills and endless peach trees. I hope the viewer will be able to imagine the taste of fresh peaches or smell a fresh baked peach pie on the table. To tie it all in\, I drew an American flag rippling in the wind among the vast landscape as a symbol of everything that this country stands for. The design itself took about a day to plan and draw out\, but once I started coloring it took me several days to finish it. I really enjoyed working on this poster and I feel honored to have my design selected for the Ruston Peach Festival."\n\n~ lmira Bradford
