SUMMARY:Dual Anniversary Celebration: Chamber & Louisiana Tech
DESCRIPTION:Dual Anniversary Celebration\n\nChamber 100 Years & Louisiana Tech 125 Years\n\n\n\nHosted by the Ruston-Lincoln Chamber of Commerce and the Louisiana Tech University Alumni Association\n\n \n\nAfter Hours\, Auction and Exhibit\n\nFeaturing "A Pleasant Walk Through Old Tech Days: Celebrating 125 Years of Louisiana Tech History"\n\n \n\nThursday\, November 7\, 2019\n\nPrescott Memorial Library Archives\, 4th Floor (Wyly Tower)\n\nLive Auction\, Door Prizes\, Refreshments\n\n\n\nSpecial thanks to the collaborative effort of The College of Applied and Natural Sciences\, School of Human Ecology's Fashion Program\, and Louisiana Tech University Archives Department. \n\n\n\nThe exhibit displays a story through the art of textiles/fabric and silhouettes\, expressing the unique individual and specific identity of the students who came before us. Each era tells a story that is part of Louisiana Tech's heritage. It is a wonderful collection that will give you a glimpse into student life\, their lifestyle and the culture of each era. The best part of assembling the exhibit was discovering the stories through the beautiful garments and other items that were donated to the University from alumni of the late 1800s through the early 1980s. Each story displayed shares the love and traditions that were created\, blazing the trails for future generations of Louisiana Tech University the "Tech Family."\n\n\n\nDayton Scoggins of Artistry in Wood entertained festival goers at the Louisiana Peach Festival this year. His amazing talent of chain saw carving made him a hit. It was not only his skills however\, that made it so perfect\; his carvings from the festival are made from pieces of trees that were torn down by the tornado that hit Ruston in April. Certainly\, they are pieces of history. Scoggins donated two of his creations to the Ruston-Lincoln Chamber of Commerce\; a bear and a bulldog. The bear was auctioned and sold to Jeremy Telford\, franchise owner of Chick-fil-A Ruston\, earlier this year. The bulldog\, approximately 3.5 feet tall\, will be auctioned off at this event. Bidding is open and will conclude at this event at 6 p.m. Click here to go to bidding site.
