DESCRIPTION:This is one of several topics being discussed during the Lighten Up Lincoln Parish Community Expo and Wellness Conference.  The entire Expo and Conference is devoted to healthy living.  The schedule is arranged so that you can come to hear a specific speaker or you can stay and hear them all.  There is a business and health expo set up from 8 am - 5 pm that will allow you time to visit in between speakers.\n\n\n\nCommunity gardening improves people's quality of life by providing a catalyst for neighborhood and community development stimulating social interaction\, encouraging self-reliance\, beautifying neighborhoods\, producing nutritious food\, reducing family food budgets\, conserving resources and creating opportunities for recreation\, exercise\, therapy and education.  Come learn what role community gardening can play in your life and in our community.\n\n\n\nTed warren\, is the developer of Dittle's Garden in Shreveport.  The mission of their project is multi-faceted.  Essentially they provide an area in the Fairfield Community for neighborhood involvement and the people of Shreveport/Bossier to produce healthy\, nutritious food for our families.  They help feed the hungry and educate the importance of the slogan that "We are what we Eat" to all ages.
