DESCRIPTION:What's better on a Saturday afternoon than a Magical Christmas time with friends\, family and neighbors!\n\n\n\nA Ruston "Magical" Christmas parade will be stroll through Downtown Ruston on\n\nSaturday\, December 9\, 2017 at 4 p.m.\n\n\nThis year begins a new tradition\; a safer\, afternoon parade with a new route. The parade will begin in the 300 block of South Homer Street\, head North to Alabama\, and continue on to Trenton Street. From Trenton Street the parade will turn right onto Dan Reneau Drive and return to its starting point.\n\n\n\nAfter the parade\, join us back Downtown to get your fill of chili goodness! Cooks will spend Saturday afternoon competing in the Battle for the Paddle Chili Cook-Off and it'll be ready just in time for us!\n\n\n\nAll Things Christmas\n\nBack for the third year\, "Lincoln Lights Up the Pines" kicks things off on November 30 through December 2\, 5:30   10:00 PM\, in Lincoln Parish Park.  Guests can drive through the park to enjoy lighted displays\, vintage RV trailer festivities\, and even more merriment.  On Friday\, December 1\, Ruston Mayor Ronny Walker and his staff will host a "Kickoff to Christmas" at 6:00 PM in Railroad Park complete with a tree lighting ceremony\, holiday-themed activities in the park\, and ice-skating at the Historic Fire Station which will continue through December 30\, 3:00   10:00 on Fridays\, 10:00   10:00 on Saturdays\, and 4:00   10:00 on Sundays (closed Christmas Eve).  Add to that the North Central Louisiana Arts Council celebrating the 20th Anniversary of its Holiday Arts Tour December 1-2 with an infusion of visual and performing artists performing and selling their works amidst holiday shoppers and you have an unforgettable weekend of holiday magic.\n\n\n\nSaturday\, December 9\, your Chamber will present a double dose of Christmas magic.  The 1st Annual "Battle for the Paddle" Chili Cook-off will get underway at 10 AM in downtown Ruston as teams vie for the title of "Best Chili" and the coveted paddle prize.  Following that the 2017 Ruston Christmas Parade will roll through town at 4 PM and continue "A Magical Christmas" theme.  After the parade\, guests can then purchase tickets to sample the different chili offerings before the winner of the paddle is crowned.  Registration for both events is now underway with special discounts available if you register for the parade and Lincoln Lights Up the Pines by November 1\, 2017.  Parade registration fees will increase by $25 after November 16 and all registrations must be completed by December 1.
