Dept. of Homeland Security Active Shooter Workshop
The U. S. Department of Homeland Security and the Governor’s Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness plan to host an Active Shooter Training/Security Workshop to enhance awareness of and response to an active shooter incident. The class is scheduled for Wednesday, December 7, 2016 at the Lincoln Parish Library Events Center, 910 North Trenton St., Ruston, La.

This will be an 8 hour class with registration beginning around 7:30 am, lunch break and should end around 4:00 pm. Additional registration information will be forwarded as soon as possible. Please consider participating in this critical training.
A Unique Training Opportunity
- Educating participants on the history of active shooter events.
- Describing common behavior, conditions and situations associated with active shooters.
- Fostering communication between critical infrastructure owners/operators and local emergency response teams. Will include discussions of interoperability, communications protocols and best practices for planning, preparedness and response.
- Communication and incident planning for employees.
- Emergency action plan development.
- Recognizing behavioral indicators.
- Coordinating with first response personnel.
