Event at Junior Auxiliary of Ruston
Junior Auxiliary of Ruston's 4th Annual Dinner & a Movie
Junior Auxiliary of Ruston is a part of the National Association of Junior Auxiliaries (NAJA), a non-profit organization founded in 1941 with headquarters in Greenville, MS. NAJA has more than 14,430 active, associate, and life members in 101 chapters in 8 states (Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Louisiana, Mississippi, Missouri, Tennessee and Texas). The NAJA slogan is "Care Today, Character Tomorrow" and when teamed with the current focus of the Association, Junior Auxiliary Chapters are working more than ever before to increase awareness of child health and welfare and how it affects their futures.
Every Christmas more than 300 Lincoln parish children are partnered with sponsors during Junior Auxiliary's Christmas Clearing House to ensure that needy children identified by their teachers receive Christmas gifts and cheer, children who otherwise would go without. Also during the holiday season, Junior Auxiliary reads and distributes books to kindergarteners at public schools in Lincoln Parish during visit with St. Nick and Book Buddies. This project introduces children to the joys of reading at a young age.
Who makes these projects possible? The Ruston-area community does through its support of Junior Auxiliary of Ruston's annual Dinner and a Movie. Set to begin at 4:30pm, Friday, April 15 at Railroad Park in Ruston, the event raises crucial funds to support hands-on service projects that make a difference in the lives of Lincoln Parish children and families, with a special emphasis on children and youth. Event goers can do a good deed for their community, and at the same time enjoy a delicious hamburger or hot dog dinner, visit vendor booths and gather information on programs available for children in our community, listen to live entertainment and watch a great movie! Tickets for the hamburger/hotdog dinner are $6. For information or tickets, go to the organization's website at www.jaofruston.org or call Public Relations Chair Jeannie Tinker at (318) 254-3908.
