Fired Up for CCA

Ruston residents have a chance to get "Fired Up for Christian Community Action" for four days during June. The Ruston Firefighter's Association is partnering with the civic group Epsilon Sigma Alpha to sponsor a CCA food drive from 8-11 a.m. June 12-13 and 19-20. Firefighters will drive through various quadrants of the city at those times to pick up donations. Residents are encouraged to leave items at the end of their driveways, curbside or near their mailboxes. Items to be donated should be non-perishable in non-glass containers. At this time the need for CCA donations is greater than normal, CCA Executive Director Stephanie Matthews said. David Wells, the Ruston Fire Department's director of Emergency Medical Services, said the local Firefighter's Association always wants to be there to help citizens of Ruston and Lincoln Parish.

Pick-up details are as follows:

June 12, southeast quadrant – Bernard, Brewster, Cartwright Drive, Eastland, Kenwood, Marbury and Neal

June 13, southwest quadrant – Cypress Springs, Lakeview Drive, Lakeview Place, Maple, Paul, Paynter, Roosevelt, St. John and Zachry

June 19, northwest quadrant – Audubon, Jefferson Oaks, Lovers Lane, Madera, Mesa, Pennington, Savannah Trace, Tanglewood and Wedgewood

June 20, northeast quadrant – Arkansas, Briarhill, English Turn, Forest Circle, Foxxwood, Hundred Oaks, Knowles, N. Vienna, Northwood, Post Oak and Wynnwood.

If your street is not on this list or if donations do not get picked up, Matthews said they can be brought to the CCA building at 108 S. Bonner St. from 9 a.m. to noon Monday through Friday. She requests that donations not be left on the porch. Donations to CCA via check can also be handed to firefighters as they drive through the neighborhoods. Matthews said these donations would be used to purchase additional food.
