Flamingo Trot 5k and 1 mile fun run
For the fourth consecutive year, the Flamingo Trot 5K trail run and 1 mile fun run will be held in the beautiful Lake Claiborne State Park on Saturday, December 21, 2019. If you cannot attend, don't worry there is a Virtual option available! Flamingo Trot is a USATF sanctioned race event for which all the proceeds will be donated in support of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (“LLS”). The LLS mission is to cure leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin’s disease, and myeloma and to improve the quality of life for patients and their families. Last year, LLS awarded $76 million in grant funding to over 400 research programs. LLS-funded research has advanced treatments such as chemotherapy, stem cell transplantation, and lifesaving “smart” drugs which have become standard therapies for many other cancers.

Place 225 State Park Road Homer, LA US 71040 Please Note- an entry fee of $3 per person is required to enter the Park. Parking and Restrooms: Parking and Restrooms are located at the Lake Claiborne Beach Area. Course: The course will be 3.1 miles using a mixture of road and trail along the beautiful Lake Claiborne in the Lake Claiborne State Park. The course will have some hills with highest elevation at approximately 322 ft. The course will be marked with Pink Flamingos and Pink ribbon/tape arrows on path. Awards 5k:All finishers and virtual race participants will receive a wooden medallion medal. Awards for Overall Top Male & Female, Age Divisions Awards. First Place for Male /Female Age Division Awards will be broken in to the following levels: Ages 15 and under Ages 16-29 Ages 30-39 Ages 40-49 Ages 50-59 Ages 60-69 Ages 70 and over 1Mile: All participants will receive Race shirt. Chip Timing: To reduce overhead of race and be able to donate all proceeds to Leukemia and Lymphoma Society , the race will not be chip timed. All finishing times are taken manually and recorded by BIb number/Runner. Packet Pick up: Packet Pick Up will be Friday, Dec 20 at Lake Claiborne State Park from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. and beginning at 8:30 a.m. on race event. All virtual participants will be mailed medal and shirt by January 3, 2020.
