The Community Based Vocational Training (CBVT) program of Lincoln Parish Schools Special Education Department would like to partner with local businesses to provide job training for some of our 11th and 12th grade special education students. Eligible students would spend 1-2 hours per day for two days per week of the school year beginning in late September at the job site. These would be unpaid positions, but would be mutually beneficial for both the business and the student in so many ways. This program is designed to help students learn hard skills such as sorting items, stocking items, general custodial skills, refilling items, etc. Soft skills they would be focusing on include working collaboratively, communicating effectively, problem-solving, adaptability/flexibility, following directions, accepting feedback/constructive criticism, and gaining confidence.
