Poetry Writing Workshop (Level 1)

Improve your overall writing skills through extensive poetry reading and writing.

Objectives:

1) Learn to analyze and explicate works by different poets. 
2) Write and revise at least four poems. 
3) A weekly workshop (thorough revisions of each student's poems).

Textbook needed:

The Best American Poetry 2011. Guest Editor: Kevin Young. Series Editor: David Lehman.
ISBN: 978-1-4391-8149-2

Students will demonstrate their ability to employ various learned poetic techniques by submitting at least one poem each week that will be read by others. Students will make several copies of their work so they can be distributed among other students in the class.
