Public Meeting: LA 544 at I-20 Overpass Project

PUBLIC MEETING: La. 544 at I-20 Overpass Project

The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (LADOTD) is conducting an open house public meeting for a bridge replacement/realignment and intersection modification project on LA 544 (Cooktown Road) at I-20 in Ruston, Louisiana in Lincoln Parish.

The new realigned bridge, approximately 25 feet west of the existing bridge, will maintain the existing traffic flow while the new bridge is constructed. The intersections of I-20 ramps/LA 544 and LA 544/ Frontage Roads will be replaced with roundabouts. Replacing these stop-controlled and signal-controlled intersections with roundabouts will improve capacity at the I-20 and LA 544 interchange and will improve safety and flow along the corridor.

The purpose of the meeting is to provide the public with information about the project and to obtain input from interested parties. Representatives from LADOTD will be available at the open house to answer questions and discuss issues related to the project. Verbal and written comments on the project can be submitted at the meeting. Comments can also be mailed to the LADOTD address at Traffic Engineering, LADOTD, 1201 Capitol Access Road, LA 70802, and Attention: Salowa Sultana, by January 15th, 2017.
