The 2021 broadcast of Ruston's St. Jude Radiothon is scheduled from 7 a.m.-6 p.m. Mar. 25-26 on Ruston station Z107.5. This year marks its 40th anniversary. Donations will be taken in person at both Ruston Walmart locations and Super 1 Foods. Online donations can be made at that time through a link on the home page of Z107.5 radio station or by calling 1-800-787-5288. The Zeta Rho chapter of the service group Epsilon Sigma Alpha co-sponsors the event, which last year drew in more than $87,000 in on- and off-air contributions for the Memphis, Tennessee, hospital that specializes in treating catastrophic childhood diseases. Radiothon Chair Nancy Darland said such donations are essential in helping save the lives of children across the United States as well as around the world. The hospital treats approximately 8,600 patients annually. Currently, St. Jude is treating more than 800 patients from Louisiana. St. Jude's operating costs total about $2.2 million daily, with 75% of that coming from public contributions. No family is ever billed for treatment, travel, meals or lodging. Radiothon sponsors are Albritton Service Co.; Boiler Services Inspection; Century Next Bank; Edward Jones, Andy Halbrook – financial adviser; Jonesboro State Bank; Louisiana Insurance Services; Murphy Brothers Trucking and Construction; Origin Bank; RocketFast! Car Wash; Ruston Antique Car Club; and Skip Russell State Farm.
