On Kick Butts Day, March 20, Alayna P. Tackett, Ph.D. of the Oklahoma Tobacco Research Center and Dr. Alexander Billioux, Assistant Secretary of Health for Office of Public Health-Louisiana Tobacco, will join Mayor Ronny Walker in Ruston to discuss tobacco and vaping use among high-school-aged teens and current efforts to curb smoking and vaping among that age group. Local teens will also share their stories on how tobacco has affected their lives and Mayor Walker will discuss Ruston’s initiatives for creating a healthier Ruston. Kick Butts Day is an annual celebration of youth leadership and activism in the fight against tobacco use. Schools and communities across America participate in interactive activities and events that empower youth to stand out, speak up and seize control against Big Tobacco – and commit to stay tobacco-free.
