Event Coordinator - Ruston Farmers Market
Position Summary:
The Event & Marketing Coordinator leads public relations, special event planning, fundraising campaigns, and merchandise development for the Ruston Farmers Market and Drew Jones Teaching Kitchen.
1. Event Planning & Execution
- Organize and manage special events at the market, including:
- Monthly Evening Events with RFM Market Coordinator
- Annual Market Dinner
- Various Events as Required
- Coordinate logistics, promotion, volunteers, and vendor participation.
- Manage financial budgets, expenses associated with planned events.
- Attends monthly downtown meetings.
- Build relationships with community partners, local media, and stakeholders.
- Represent the market in interviews, local media, and community meetings.
- Develop and manage a fundraising program, including donor campaigns and sponsorships.
- Coordinate with the board on strategic funding initiatives.
- Plan and execute donor engagement opportunities (e.g., donor nights, impact reports).
- Create, source, and manage branded market merchandise (shirts, bags, kitchen gear, etc.).
- Track inventory and oversee merchandise sales.
- Promote brand visibility and support fundraising.
- Develop a comprehensive marketing strategy for the market and kitchen.
- Coordinate digital campaigns, print materials, signage, and outreach.
- Manage or oversee content for the market website, including updates, class/event promotion, and vendor features in coordination with RFM and DJK Coordinators.
- Experience in event coordination, marketing, or nonprofit fundraising.
- Strong communication, time management, and organizational skills.
- Familiarity with community food systems, farmers markets, or public engagement work.
- Comfort using digital tools (social media, email platforms, Canva, Squarespace, etc.).
- Graphic design and/or photography skills a plus.
- Hours commensurate with event calendar.
- Some evening and weekend hours required.
- Compensation based on experience and contract scope.
