Job Title: Drew Jones Teaching Kitchen Coordinator

Position Summary:

The Drew Jones Kitchen Coordinator oversees all kitchen-based programming at the Ruston Farmers Market, including free classes, leisure/paid offerings, private rentals, and chef/teacher engagement.

 

Key Responsibilities:

1. Kitchen Operations & Program Management

  • Oversee weekly operations including staff of the DJK Kitchen during events and class sessions.

  • Refine and implement a sustainable kitchen operations model, including maintenance protocols and booking systems.

  • Ensure all safety, sanitation, and regulatory compliance measures are in place.

2. Class Program Development

  • Leisure Classes: Develop and execute weekly paid “Leisure Learning” culinary classes for the public.

  • Free Classes: Design and manage community-based cooking classes focused on nutrition, local ingredients, and access.

  • Track participation, collect evaluations, and perform class financial modeling.

3. Chef & Instructor Management

  • Recruit, schedule, and support local chefs, nutritionists, and food educators to deliver high-quality classes.

  • Maintain strong relationships with instructors and ensure they are equipped for success.

4. Private Class & Rental Model

  • Executing private class offerings for groups, businesses, or celebrations.

  • Develop pricing models, class menus, and marketing materials to promote classes.

  • Coordinate staffing and instructor alignment for private events.

5. Social Media & Promotions

 
  • Create and schedule social media content for the Ruston Farmers Market and DJTK Kitchen in collaboration with the market coordinator.

  • Promote upcoming events, vendors, classes, and community stories.

  • Share behind-the-scenes content that connects audiences to the mission and people of the market. 

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in food education, event coordination, or kitchen management.

  • Strong organizational and communication skills.

  • Passion for community health, local food systems, and teaching.

  • Culinary background or ServSafe certification preferred but not required.

 


 

Hours & Compensation:

  • Estimated 10–20 hours/week depending on class volume and season.

  • Evening and weekend availability may be required.

  • Compensation is commensurate with experience.
