Job Title: Market Coordinator

Position Summary:

The Market Coordinator is responsible for the successful execution of Saturday market operations, vendor relations, community engagement, and SNAP/Greaux the Good program oversight.

 

Key Responsibilities:

 

1. Saturday Market Operations

 
  • Oversee weekly setup, breakdown, and on-site coordination with vendors and staff.

  • Serve as the main point of contact for vendors, volunteers, and community partners.

  • Troubleshoot day-of issues and ensure a safe, welcoming market environment.

  • Ensure metrics are collected for grant applications and reports.

 

2. Vendor Management & Growth

 
  • Recruit and onboard new vendors to expand product offerings.

  • Manage vendor applications, communications, and stall assignments.

  • Support development of vendor-focused initiatives, including a vendor endowment or training program.

 

3. Community Engagement & Programming

 
  • Engage local organizations and partners for tabling, demonstrations, and sponsorships.

  • Plan and grow live music, local art features, and children’s activities to enhance the market experience.

  • Build lasting relationships with partner groups to deepen community connections.

 

4. SNAP & Greaux the Good Administration

 
  • Promote and manage the market’s SNAP and Greaux the Good incentive programs.

  • Track participant usage, ensure compliance, and support outreach to eligible shoppers.

  • Coordinate reporting and communication with funders or program administrators.

 

5. Social Media & Promotions

 
  • Create and schedule social media content for the Ruston Farmers Market and DJTK Kitchen in collaboration with the kitchen coordinator.

  • Promote upcoming events, vendors, classes, and community stories.

  • Share behind-the-scenes content that connects audiences to the mission and people of the market. 

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in vendor management, community relations, event planning/management preferred.

  • Strong organizational and communication skills.

  • Passion for agriculture, local food systems, and community health.

  • Culinary background or ServSafe certification preferred but not required.

 


 

Hours & Compensation:

  • Estimated 10–20 hours/week depending on season and events.

  • Evening and weekend availability may be required.

  • Compensation is commensurate with experience.
